Celebration of the 250th birthday of king Willem 1

PostNL wanted to launch a new postage-stamp sheet, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of king Willem 1, the first king of The Netherlands. I had the opportunity to design this stamp and help to make the eventual stamp.

Within the assignment, I worked on my own design and two group designs. My own design consists of three different stamps, each dedicated to a different subject. The guideline for each stamp is a building that was important in the king's life. I linked these buildings to the portraits of the king and queen.

The colour blue symbolises the reliability and authority that King Willem 1 bore.

The colour red symbolises the life and passion that Queen Wilhelmina had for her children and her painting.

The typography is a sans serif letter that contrasts the letter W used in the king's monogram.
